The hands that keep the island alive.

Titicaca is a contemporary Andean house born from Lake Titicaca—The world’s highest navigable lake, resting more than 12,500 feet above sea level in the Peruvian Andes.

Our artisans are native to its waters on Amantaní Island, where the lake has shaped life, family, and tradition for generations. For years, limited local opportunity meant many men had little choice but to leave Amantaní for work in the cities—taking families apart and, slowly, putting the transmission of island traditions at risk.

Here, alpaca craftsmanship means far more than income. It allows women to build independent businesses, men to remain and work alongside their families on the island, and ancestral knowledge to stay where it belongs: in the community, passed from one generation to the next.

As the work has grown, the Quispe family has begun training neighbors on Amantaní in the craft, creating new livelihoods and ensuring that the knowledge behind each handmade piece continues to travel through the island—not away from it.

Every Titicaca piece therefore carries more than extraordinary softness. It carries a family, an island, a living craft, and a culture continuing forward.
